Abrasives for manufacturing stone abrasive polishing tools
First ,what are stone abrasive polishing tools?
Stone abrasive polishing tools are a grinding and polishing instruments used for rough grinding, fine grinding and polishing of the surface of natural or artificial stone (such as marble, granite, artificial stone, etc.) to achieve a smooth and bright effect.
Stone abrasive polishing tools usually includes the followings:
1,Diamond tools: such as diamond soft grinding discs (water grinding discs) and diamond grinding discs (metal/resin bond), used for coarse grinding to fine grinding (mesh 20–3000), suitable for renovation of hard stone materials such as granite and marble.
2.Resin bonded abrasives: including resin grindstones and resin diamond grinding discs, used for medium-fine grinding and initial polishing, with good brightness and moderate cutting, often used in marble.
3.Silicon carbide abrasives: such as Silicon carbide grinding stone, Silicon carbide resin grinding stone, Silicon carbide grinding discs, with low cost and good self-sharpening properties. They are mostly used for rough grinding or artificial stone and ceramic tiles, but the efficiency is low.
4.Special polishing tools: such as fiber polishing wheel (white pad/red pad/scouring pad), nylon polishing wheel, nano animal hair pad, combined with crystallizer for final high-gloss polishing.
5.Abrasive brush/abrasive wire tool: Nylon abrasive brush (cup type, disc type, etc.) containing silicon carbide or diamond abrasives, used for curved surfaces, corners or matte processing.
6.Coated abrasive tools: such as sandpaper-type abrasive discs (less commonly used for stone bodies, mostly used for small area dressing), using aluminum oxide or silicon carbide as abrasives.
From above,we can see that abrasives such as silicon carbide and aluminum oxide are often used in manufacturing stone abrasive polishing tools.
Then what is the silicon carbide and aluminum oxide?
First we talk about silicon carbide.
Silicon Carbide also named SiC or Carborundum,is produced in electrical internal resistance furnaces from silica sands and petroleum coke(added salt during smelting),with high hardness, thermal conductivity and strength.
Besides,in the market there are black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide, which have commons and differences.

GREEN SILICON CARBIDE
Secondly,we talk about aluminum oxide,in the field of stone abrsive polishing tools, aluminum oxide that are often used are white aluminum oxide, brown aluminum oxide and pink aluminum oxide.
White aluminum oxide,is also called white corundum, white fused alumina, white fused aluminum oxide or white aloxide etc,is made from calcined aluminum oxide, with 99% min Al2O3.
WHITE ALUMINUM OXIDE
Brown aluminum oxide is also called brown corundum, brown fused alumina, brown fused aluminum oxide and brown electrocorundum etc, is made from bauxite, with Al2O3 about 95%。
BROWN ALUMINUM OXIDE
Pink aluminum xide is also called pink corundum, pink fused alumina, pink fused aluminum oxide or pink electrocorundum etc,is obtained by adding chromium oxide to high purity aluminum oxide during the fusion process, with Al2O3 more than 98%.

Sizes of abrasives for manufacturing stone abrasive polishing tools usually as follows:
