Why green carborundum can be used for sandblasting/grinding and polishing stone?
Green carborundum plays a vital role in stone processing, maily because of its following unique physical and chemical properties:
1. High hardness and wear resistance
The mohs hardness of green carborundum is about 9.4, second only to diamond and cubic boron nitride in nature. This characteristic makes green carborundum show strong resistance when subjected to pressure and friction, and can more effectively remove materials on the surface of the stone.
2. Excellent thermal conductivity
During the stone grinding or polishing process, a large amount of heat will be generated between the stone and the abrasive. If it cannot be dissipated in time, it may cause the stone to deform or generate thermal stress. Green carborundum has excellent thermal conductivity, which can avoid the problem effectively.
3. Uniform particle size distribution and self-sharpening
Our green carborundum is produced under Fepa and JIS standard, especically green carborundum micropowder are produced via acid and water washed and overflow classification.
4. Excellent chemical resistance
During the stone processing process, the stone surface may be exposed to various chemical reagents and gases. Green carborundum has excellent chemical resistance and can resist the erosion of various corrosive media, ensuring the stability and integrity of the material in a complex chemical environment.
5. Specific applications
The specific applications of green carborundum in stone processing include the sandblasting, grinding, polishing, cutting and slicing of natural stones such as marble and granite.
